European Parliament Committee wants “compulsory sex education in and outside school”

It could get more explicit than this...

Edite Estrela wants her ideas about sex education to become "compulsory"
“calls on Member States to ensure compulsory, age-appropriate and gender-sensitive sexuality and relationship education for all children and adolescents both in and out of school.”
It is not clear what Mrs. Estrela understands by the terms “age-appropriate” and “gender-sensitive”. But “all children” clearly means all children – there is no lower age limit. Apparently you cannot start early enough to learn about homosexuality, tantric sex, condoms, the morning after pill. And of course, this education should be compulsory, i.e. it should be administered by the state, and if need be against the will of parents (not to mention the children).
But what does she mean with “both in and out of school”? It is bad enough that more or less questionable and anti-moral sex education is now part of the school curricula in nearly all European countries. But apparently this isn’t enough. Now they want to come to your home…
And of course, Mrs. Estrela and her ilk are completely and utterly ignorant of human rights. The only human rights they know are the ones they have freely invented, such as “compulsory sex education”. They have never heard that Article 26.3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights foresees that “parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children”. They don’t know that according to Article 2 of the 1st Protocol to the European Human Rights Convention, “in the exercise of any functions which it assumes in relation to education and to teaching, the State shall respect the right of parents to ensure such education and teaching in conformity with their own religions and philosophical convictions”. And certainly they are also not aware that Article 8 of that same Convention, which guarantees the respect for private and family life, is there protect citizens against the type of molestations they want to make compulsory through their bizarre resolution.
With full respect, I do assume that Mrs. Estrela and friends sincerely believe they are promoting human rights. The problem is that they just have no clue at all what human rights are. Such politicians may be well-intentioned, but they are really dangerous.
But then, perhaps they aren’t. There is one thing that all and everyone should know about the European Parliament and its Reports and Resolutions. When, as is the case with the Estrela Report, it carries the mention “INI” in its identifier, this means that the Parliament is issuing this report of its own initiative, i.e. that this report is not legally binding. The same applies to all Resolutions adopted by the Parliament.
You don’t need to read any of those papers. You can throw them directly into the dustbin. Not all of them contain a similar amount of nonsense and intellectual court-circuit as Mrs. Estrela’s draft (and hence are not equally amusing to read), but many of them do. In any case, if you have a real life, don’t waste your time on reading them.
The reason why the European homosexual and abortion lobbies (and their friends among the elected MEPs) are so fond about this type of literature is that it sounds important, authoritative, and meaningful. In fact it isn’t. And the reason why they so often manage to get this kind of report adopted in the Plenary is that those MEPs who do not happen to belong to the same-sex-cum-abortion-caucus, knowing that those papers have no legally binding effect anyway, just don’t want to waste their time and energy with this kind of stuff. They just find it boring.
