Children’s Rights Treaty resolutions fail in US state legislatures
In the last few weeks, legislators in Rhode Island and Illinois were expected to easily pass resolutions promoting the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Resolutions in both states failed to advance after pro-life and pro-family advocates got wind of them. For the Rhode Island story see the latest Friday Fax.
C-FAM submitted testimony in the Rhode Island case.
Whereas the RI resolution advocated US ratification, the Illinois resolution went further and would have made state child welfare programs comply with the treaty regardless of the status of US ratification.
