Saving Lives at Birth

The Saving Lives At Birth challenge has announced 19 nominees, out of 77 finalists in a field of 600+ contestants, to receive some $250K in seed money.

The results so far are edifying. For example: a method that converts oxytocin into a non-refrigerated, inhalable dose to prevent post-partum hemmorhaging (the top killer of women in child birth), transportation for women in rural areas, and a new way to prevent mother-to-child HIV infection.
