In a letter addressing family planning advocates at the 2011 International Conference on Family Planning in Dakar, Senegal, Secretary Clinton emphasized the timely importance of providing reproductive care around the globe. She pledged the commitment of the United States in helping women access what she feels is a “basic right” – “information and means to decide freely and responsibly the number, spacing and timing of their children.” Clinton urged participants to step-up efforts in providing women this information, “this is the year we must commit ourselves to accelerating our efforts to ensure that all women have access to family planning and reproductive health care and services.” Although not stated in her address, we all know what is implied when speaking of reproductive health services, access to abortion. Sponsors of the conference include the usual population control pushers; Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, William and Flora Hewitt Foundation and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA).

The conference started yesterday and goes through Dec. 3. There is an entire track dedicated to reaching youth. These programs include, “Foundational Programs for Very Young Adolescents” and “Improving adolescent sexual and reproductive health.”
