Serbia: A recent opinion poll organized by the “Center for Free Elections and Democracy” (CESID) shows that the two most popular institutions in Serbia are the Orthodox Church and the Police. While 59% of the respondents expressed that they trusted in the Church, the police came second with 45% of positive responses. For the police, this is an increase of 13% compared to last year. The decision by Minister for Interior Affairs Ivica Dacic to prohibit the 2011 Gay Pride (an event organized with financial and political support notably of the European Commission), seems to have boosted public support for the police forces: 89% of respondents expressed their full agreement to that decision.
