Planned Parenthood’s “Gospel of Reproductive Rights”

Which is worse, blasphemy or breaking the law?

A local abortionist brags that he climbed high into the Andes to spread the “gospel of reproductive rights,” teaching the precious few doctors there to abort the unborn babies of poor women.

“I never thought that I would be performing an abortion in a room with a picture of Jesus and the Virgin Mary, but there I was, in the middle of the Andes,” Dr. Pablo Rodriguez wrote.

What he doesn’t brag about is that he was medical director of Planned Parenthood Rhode Island and that Andean countries had laws protecting the unborn child from abortion at the time.

The director of Rhode Island Right to Life, Barth Bracy, told me he publicized the fact that Rodriguez was a law breaker to the good people of his state where Rodriguez enjoys some celebrity and influence. Few seemed surprised much less roused to react.

Such is the abortion group’s impunity, and policy makers’ complacency.

So it is really something that both Houses of the US Congress agreed this week that American taxpayers should not pay for the wrongdoings of Planned Parenthood anymore. The flippancy of group’s leadership — at least in the eyes of those who represent the American people — went too far when discussing their sale of unborn babies’ body parts. So did Rodriguez by invoking the Church’s blessing in his “mission” to the Andes.

The bill to defund Planned Parenthood now awaits President Obama’s veto, presumably in a politically-calculated pre-election event.
No matter the bill’s fate, however, one can hope that Planned Parenthood’s disregard for the laws of this country and those of other nations should no longer be dismissed as inevitable.
