Assisted Suicide Performed in UK Despite Illegality
A report in the BBC quoted Arie Nieuwenhuijzen Kruseman, head of the Royal Dutch Medical Association saying that British doctors euthanize patients despite it being illegal in the UK. These comments came after the UK High Court ruled for a second time against its legalization.
Kruseman said he has been told by doctors that they are doing it. “Some use IV potassium, high doses of insulin, morphine.”
The recent case before the court involved Tony Nicklinson, a 58 year old man paralyzed form the neck down that wants to end is life and said he will appeal.
Wesley J. Smith has a piece today at FirstThings on the cultural addiction of euthanasia. The moral of the story he says is “Euthanasia is addicting. Once you allow it for a few circumstances, over time, you will allow it for many. Ultimate destination: Death on Demand.”
