Susan Rice’s Aborted Candidacy for Secretary of State

NBC News is reporting that Susan Rice, US ambassador to the UN, is removing herself from consideration as Secretary of State. While the opposition to her candidacy was fueled by her part in the Benghazi scandal, what is not likely to get reported in the post-mortems of her aborted nomination is her undiplomatic conduct as US ambassador.
Foreign Policy has reported on her heavy-handed manner with other ambassadors, use of foul language and juvenile put-downs in negotiations.
What has not been reported, but we’ve heard in the halls of the UN, is that Rice held a series of meetings to strong-arm developing countries on homosexual rights. At least one diplomat believed Rice was delivering a face-to-face threat to withhold all US aid from the tiny country if it did not change its laws and go along with the Obama/Hillary administration’s dictates on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues.
We’re not aware of that show of force, that concentration of power being exhibited on any other issue, including nuclear weapons.
Rice’s atrocious judgment, as the Wall Street Journal reported, of “embracing a psychotic murderer and alienating a continent,” her lack of diplomatic skills, combined with the Obama administration’s skewed priorities makes her candidacy for the US top diplomat one abortion that is welcome.
