Another View on Uganda’s Homosexual Laws

The US is threatening to withdraw develoment aid from the government of Uganda if the draconian anti-homosexual law is passed into law.

In a January 12 letter from US Trade Representative Ron Kirk Wyder US Senator Ron Wyden to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Wyden says, “I strongly urge you to communicate immediately to the Ugandan government and President Museveni directly, that Uganda’s beneficiary status under AGOA will be revoked should the proposed [homosexuality] legislation be enacted.” Wyden wrote further that “Beneficiaries of AGOA must meet certain eligibility criteria, one of which is to not engage in “gross violations of internationally recognized human rights.”

What internationally recognized human rights is Wyden referring to? There is no internationally recognized human right to homosexual behavior.

For the record, C-FAM does not believe that homosexuals should be put to death for homosexual behavior, even for deliberately infecting others with HIV/Aids, though we do oppose the promotion of phony human rights.
