For the first time since 1945, Germany legalizes the “selection” of human beings
Well, to tell you the truth, the mass extermination of Jews in Auschwitz and other death camps had no legal basis – thus, even under the Nazi regime the “selection” of human beings was never “legal”. But now it is. And it is a democratically elected parliament that has made this possible. By 326 to 260 votes, the German Bundestag has adopted a new law that legalises the practice of pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PIGD) in which artificially created embryos, prior to their implantation into the female uterus, are screened for “genetic defects”.
It is certainly not by chance that one of the MPs voting in favour of the law, Karl Lauterbach, used the parliamentary debate preceding the vote to express doubts whether human embryos are human beings. Indeed, such clumsy self-deceptions seem to be necessary for those wishing to defend abortion (i.e. the deliberate killing of children before their birth) or the practice, frequently encountered in the context of assisted procreation, of creating large quantities of human embryos of which only one is implanted in the mother’s womb (whereas all the others are either destroyed or used for scientific or commercial purposes).
Mr. Lauterbach, who does not know who is a human being and who isn’t, is the Socialist Party’s leading “expert” on health issues…
