Former Mayor of Hamburg (59) “marries” his boyfriend (22)

Ole von Beust, former mayor of the German city of Hamburg, has entered into a “registered partnership” with his boyfriend Lukas Förster. The politician is 37 years older than his mate.

Ole and Lukas are a couple now.

Just a few weeks ago, the German Constitutional Court has upheld claims that such partnerships should be eligible for the same tax-breaks as any marriage between a man and a woman. In the same vein, Mr. Förster, if he survives Mr. von Beust, will be entitled to a life-long “widower’s pension”, which in his case might amount to more than US$ 10.000 … per month.

The fight against “all forms of discrimination” is certainly worth this expenditure, isn’t it?
