Loving the Elderly
When abortion was thrust upon the U.S., pro-lifers realized we needed to help women making the life-and-death decisions just as much as we worked legislatively. It’s the loving thing to do.
With euthanasia fast approaching as important a threat as abortion, we are again challenged. How can we show love to the dying?
Susan Yoshihara gave a stirring talk on the “Hardships and Fears of an Aging Population.” She walks us past the demographic numbers to the people, their worries, and makes us wonder . . . do we share or even feed the fears that lead to subtly accepting euthanasia?
Then she walks us toward hope. She shows us the way to love the elderly, those who need us . . . those whom we need.
Please read her talk. It will, as she writes, show us how to be fully alive.
