Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI: Resisting Secular Creed is Punished by “Social Excommunication”

The Jesuit magazine America reports that, in a newly published biography, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said the Church is threatened by a “worldwide dictatorship of seemingly humanist ideologies.” America noted that the biography, published this week in Germany, “cited same-sex marriage, abortion and the ‘creation of humans in the laboratory’ as examples.”

“Modern society is in the process of formulating an anti-Christian creed, and resisting this creed is punished by social excommunication,” the 93-year-old retired Pontiff is quoted as saying to a biographer.  “Events have shown by now that the crisis of faith has above all led to a crisis of Christian existence.”
