SG’s maternal health commission won’t go away

The UN’s Accountability Commission for maternal health established last September issued its final report in May. When I interviewed some WHO folks about the report in June, they weren’t sure I would find anyone left in the office. I was told they had disbanded since they had finished their work.

Not so fast. According to a new Center for Reproductive Rights report on India, the commission will now transmorgify into an “expert review group” to report regularly to the UN Secretary General on how countries are implementing their recommendations.
