Spain: In the Extremadura, schoolchildren are taught how to masturbate

A couple of days ago, this blog published a short notice to inform its readers that Spain was taking over the presidency of the European Union.

Maybe this will be a good occasion for the government of Mr. Rodriguez Zapatero, who is renowned for his ‘progressive’ stance on social issues, to export some of his reform agenda to the rest of Europe. For example his idea to legally recognise ‘same-sex marriages’. Or, even better, the precious initiative, recently launched by the regional government of Extremadura, of providing sex-education workshops for children aged between 14 and 17, where the young folks are taught how to masturbate properly. Certainly a useful curriculum in a region boasting the highest youth unemployment rate of the entire EU.

“Extremadura should be pleased with itself,” Pilar Rahola, a columnist in the Barcelona-based La Vanguardia newspaper, wrote. “It may have the most unemployed young people in Spain but they will be the best at masturbation.”
