UNFPA Weighs In on Philippines Reproductive Health Bill

As the debate over a controversial bill on reproductive health rages in the Philippines, the UNFPA has thrown its hat into the ring, publishing a new 5-minute video in favor of family planning in the Philippines – government-funded family planning including contraceptives that could function as abortifacients.

The Catholic bishops conference in the Philippines have been vocal opponents of the bill, reminding constituents that the Philippine Constitution protects “the life of the unborn from conception.”
