Youthful Fresh Air @UN

Starting next weekend, there will be a different narrative to the UN Youth story. In the past, the narrative has gone “the UN is up to radical, corrupting, negative youth projects, and nobody is doing anything about it.” This time it will be different, and good youth are to blame.

The International Youth Coalition (IYc) will be hosting three major events during the UN High Level Meeting on Youth, challenging the approach of many UN agencies on the youth topic. First, a Youth Formation Day will train youth to become the next leaders in promoting genuine human values at the UN and abroad, second an official UN side event will show how youth are promoting and defending human dignity, and third, the IYc will host a concert to mark the end of the HLM on youth.

These events and the inception of the International Youth Coalition’s active role in the international scene will indeed change the narrative. It will start going more like “UN agencies and NGOs are promoting irresponsible youth behavior yet again, but there is a rising tide of youth who are making their voice heard for life, family, marriage, and real human dignity.”
