Protecting Life and Family in the Post-2015 Development Agenda

Children have a right to a mother and a father. Protecting and strengthening the natural institution of the family is the only means to ensure that this fundamental right of every child is protected. A few powerful and wealthy countries have decided in recent years that same-sex unions are equivalent to the union of a man and a woman and that the United Nations must recognize and validate “various forms of family.” This C-Fam publication explains why validating “various forms of the family” is a bad idea and why the family as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the best vehicle to protect the human rights of children.
