DESCRIPTION:

Surrogacy is receiving new attention internationally since the UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale of Children published the first UN report on this practice in 2018. It is urgent for the international community to address surrogacy. The surrogacy industry is expanding at breakneck pace, and with few or no legal restrictions.

This event will feature a panel discussion on surrogacy that explores the social discourse and normative framework around the issue of surrogacy internationally.

SPEAKERS:

Daniela Bandelli, Ph.D., a Marie Curie Fellow at LUMSA University, will present the initial findings of her EU-funded research project on social discourses surrounding surrogacy.

Ludovine de la Rochere, the President of Manif Pour Tous

Stefano Gennarini, J.D.,Vice President for Legal Studies at the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam) will discuss the human rights implications of surrogacy.

The event will also include a video report about the victims of surrogacy with video remarks from Katy Faust, founder and director of Them Before Us.
