396. … In addition, information was requested on Hungarian legislation with regard to abortion and on penalties for unauthorized abortion.

397. …[The representative] added that abortion in Hungary was considered to be an offence. However, therapeutic abortion was permitted subject to authorization. Under the Criminal Code, unauthorized abortion was an offence which normally carried a penalty of deprivation of liberty for up to three years.
