UN Delegates Consider Resolution to Punish Conservatives and Christians

By | April 29, 2022

NEW YORK, April 29 (C-Fam) UN delegations that promote the homosexual/trans agenda privately circulated a resolution that would punish conservative and Christian critics of the homosexual/trans ideology.

The resolution seeks to establish an official “International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia.” The punitive measures for critics of gender ideology in the resolution will cause concern among believing Christians and Muslims both in and out of governments.

The target of the resolution is clear as it specifically cites “combatting religious intolerance.”

The resolution refers to the work of “independent experts” on these issues. The UN homosexual/trans “expert” has called for the punishment of religious critics of the gender agenda. Specifically, Victor Madrigal-Borloz has called for such critics to be jailed. Madrigal-Borloz has called out the Catholic Church by name.

The new resolution falsely claims that “sexual orientation and gender identity” are specially protected categories in international law. The attempt to make “sexual orientation and gender identity” a new protected category has been made repeatedly over the years and been rejected by UN Member States. UN Member states have consistently upheld the notion that all human beings are protected by existing human rights law.

The resolution would make any criticism of homosexuality and transgenderism a form of hate speech that must be punished. For instance, denying that anyone can change their sex would be considered a form of hate speech. Refusing to use “proper pronouns” would be considered punishable hate speech. It should be noted that children in the United States are being forced by teachers to use “proper pronouns.” Recent lawsuits argue this is a form of not only forced speech but forced religious speech, which would be a violation of existing human rights law.

The resolution says it is “urgent” to “dismantle systems of repression that enforce the idea that diversity in sexual orientation and gender identity is somehow harmful to society and the LGBT person are somehow disordered…” This would be aimed directedly at the Catholic Church that teaches homosexuality is disordered.

As is typical in such proposals, delegates are told that the underlying issue is “safety,” that homosexuals and the gender confused will suffer physical harm if anyone is allowed to criticize their underlying suppositions.

The resolution is now making the rounds among supportive UN delegations and is being informally discussed. It may be presented for consideration to the General Assembly before May 17, already designated by homosexual and transgender advocates as the day against homophobia and transphobia. The resolution faces a steep climb since these issues are among the most controversial the rich northern countries have tried to foist upon the global south. For more than 25 years, the phrase has been consistently rejected by UN delegations.

The phrase “sexual orientation and gender identity” does not enjoy international consensus. It has appeared in only a few UN documents and in only two General Assembly resolutions, and only once without a vote. Even then, fifty-eight countries condemned its inclusion in that resolution.

Leftwing governments and non-governmental organizations are becoming increasingly frustrated by their lack of progress in the homosexual/trans arena and also on “reproductive health.” Pro-life and pro-family groups have been consistently successful in blocking the sexual left’s agenda at the UN General Assembly. The NGO/CSW committee is now trying to block conservative groups from participating in UN processes. Houry Geudelekian, until recently the chairman of the group, falsely accused conservative groups of “disrupting” UN meetings. One radical group – Association for Women’s Rights in Development — has called for the UN to kick conservative groups out of the UN altogether.
