The Best of the UN in 2025

NEW YORK, December 26 (C-Fam) The Trump administration has inaugurated a new springtime for the pro-life and pro-family cause internationally. Pro-lifers are energized to go into the new year with a resolution to capitalize on this favorable political moment for life and family.

1. Pro-Family Nations Defeat Europe in LGBT Vote

In a historic victory for pro-family nations and the Trump administration, the General Assembly voted to remove “sexual orientation and gender identity” from a UN resolution for the first time. Similar amendments have been proposed before and always failed. Furious European delegates called it the “Trump Amendment,” in recognition of the Trump administration’s influence on the vote. In reality, the amendment was proposed by Egypt on behalf of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation and had broad support from every region except Europe. This proves once and for all there is no new norm on homosexuality and transgenderism in international law.

2. Trump Defeats Europe in Vote Against Legal Pedophilia

Europeans have been trying to legalize some forms of pedophilia for years, including virtual child pornography, sex bots, and other materials that don’t involve real children. The U.S. won a key vote against these European machinations in the General Assembly. Sixty-eight nations sided with the United States and against the European Union in insisting that all forms of child pornography, including virtual child pornography and sexting must be prosecuted. It is unsettling that supposedly pro-family governments like Hungary have voted to allow virtual child porn.

3. Marco Rubio Shuts Down USAID

Marco Rubio shut down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) after describing the agency’s interference in foreign nations domestic policies to promote DEI and gender, and its resistance to reform. He plans a complete overhaul of how the federal government will handle overseas assistance. In his announcement, Rubio said, “where there was once a rainbow of unidentifiable logos on life-saving aid, there will now be one recognizable symbol: the American flag.”

4. Trump Blocks UN Population Agreement over Gender Ideology

The U.S. government blocked the adoption of the final agreement of the UN population commission over pro-life and pro-family concerns. Spencer Chretien, a Trump administration official at the U.S. State Department, emphasized that the U.S. government rejected gender ideology and abortion rights. He said the U.S. was committed to “population issues that unite us, not divide us,” including improving maternal health and supporting families.

5. U.S. Government Rejects UNICEF Strategic Plan

In an unprecedented move, the U.S. refused to endorse the Strategic Plan of the UN Agency for Children, UNICEF. U.S. representative Jonathan Shrier told the agency’s executive board, “The United States strongly opposes the inclusion of harmful gender ideology, including comprehensive sexuality education as we believe it is detrimental to the well-being and development of children.” Even though the United States lost the vote, it sent a strong message that the U.S. is serious about UN reform.

BONUS: Robert F. Kennedy Builds an Alternative Global Health Framework to WHO

The U.S. government is building an alternative to the World Health Organization for global health cooperation between nations. This is very good news for pro-lifers. The WHO is so radically pro-abortion as to be unredeemable. That’s why it is very good news that Argentina’s president Javier Milei signaled that he will be joining the U.S. government’s efforts to build an alternative to the WHO.
